Our core promises
🤖 No AI in the student experience
Mogo does not use artificial intelligence to analyse, assess, or make decisions about students. No AI reads student journal entries, mood logs, goals, or any personal data. The app is a tool students control entirely themselves.
The only use of AI in the Mogo ecosystem is Claude (by Anthropic), used by our development team to help build and improve the app. This AI never has access to student data.
Who we are
My Mogo is operated by On the Edge Pty Ltd as trustee for the Liyanage-Denney Family Trust, trading as Mogo House (ABN 98 571 677 108).
For all privacy questions: hi@mymogo.world
Data access within Mogo House is restricted to named administrators only. Currently one person has access to the Supabase database: Sara, co-founder and technical builder.
Two ways to use Mogo
Mogo works in two modes. Your privacy protections differ depending on which you use.
Which mode applies to you?
We recommend that children under 13 use anonymous mode, or that a parent or guardian provides their own email address for cross-device sync.
What we collect and why
| Data | Mode | Why | Where stored | Retained until |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chosen display name and avatar | Both | Personalise the app | Device + Supabase (synced mode) | Account deleted or browser cleared |
| App preferences | Both | Save settings | Device only | Browser cleared |
| Check-in and streak dates | Both | Track learning consistency | Device + Supabase (synced mode) | Account deleted or browser cleared |
| XP and treasure data | Both | Engagement rewards | Device + Supabase (synced mode) | Account deleted or browser cleared |
| Goals and tasks | Both | Student planning | Device only | Browser cleared |
| Mood log (emoji only) | Both | Self-reflection | Device only | Browser cleared |
| Journal entries | Both | Private reflection | Device only — never transmitted | Browser cleared |
| Email address | Synced only | Cross-device login via magic link | Supabase Auth | Account deleted on request |
What we do not collect
- Full legal names
- Passwords — login uses magic link email only
- Location or GPS data
- Photos, camera, or microphone access
- Journal content — stays on device only, never transmitted
- Push notification tokens — Mogo sends no push notifications
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
- Contact lists or social connections
- Any data shared with third parties for commercial purposes
Tracking and cross-app data use
Mogo does not track users across third-party apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS or GAID on Android). We do not participate in any cross-app tracking networks. We do not share data with advertising platforms.
This applies to all users including anonymous users. No tracking. No exceptions.
Journal privacy
Journal entries are stored in the student's browser local storage on their device only. They are never transmitted to our servers, never accessible through the app by any other person, and never readable by Mogo House staff, teachers, or administrators.
The only way someone else could read a journal entry is if they have physical access to the student's device and browser. Mogo cannot control physical device access.
This design is intentional. A child who knows their thoughts are truly private will actually use the journal.
Third-party data processors
| Service | Purpose | Data shared | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and authentication (synced mode only) | Display name, streak data, XP, email (if provided) | AWS ap-southeast-2 (Sydney, Australia) |
| Google Fonts | Typography — loaded from CDN | None | Global CDN |
| Replit | App hosting | Standard web server request logs only | United States |
No student personal data is shared with any third party for advertising, analytics, or commercial purposes.
Applicable privacy law
Mogo House operates under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We also comply with COPPA (United States) and apply GDPR principles as our global baseline.
Minimum age: Mogo is designed for children aged 5 to 18. We recommend children under 13 use anonymous mode or have a parent or guardian provide an email address for account setup. We do not knowingly create synced accounts for children under 13 without parental involvement.
Schools and teachers
When a school uses Mogo, teachers submit weekly missions through a separate teacher tool. Mission data is currently stored and managed by Mogo House. Schools can request deletion of their mission data at any time by contacting hi@mymogo.world.
Teachers cannot access student journal entries, mood logs, personal goals, or any student-side personal data through any part of the Mogo system.
Schools wishing to enter a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) should contact hi@mymogo.world.
No financial incentives
Mogo House does not offer any financial incentives — including discounts, payments, or different service levels — in exchange for the collection, sale, or sharing of personal information. Data is collected only to make the app work.
Artificial intelligence
Mogo does not use artificial intelligence within the student app to analyse student behaviour, generate personalised content, or make decisions about students.
Mogo House uses Claude (Anthropic) as a development tool to help build and improve the app. This tool is used only by the development team and has no access to student data at any time.
Data security
All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Supabase database storage uses row-level security — students can only access their own records. Login uses magic link email — no passwords are stored.
Data access within Mogo House is restricted to one named administrator.
Breach notification: In the event of a data breach affecting student personal information, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) within 72 hours of becoming aware, in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Children's privacy
My Mogo is designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental or guardian involvement.
If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact hi@mymogo.world and we will delete it within 5 business days.
Parents and guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's data at any time. We respond within 5 business days for child safety matters and 30 days for all other requests.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act and applicable international law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au
To request full account deletion, email hi@mymogo.world with subject line "Delete my account." We will confirm deletion within 5 business days.
Data retention and what happens if Mogo closes
Synced account data is retained until you request deletion. Device-only data is deleted when you clear your browser data or uninstall the app.
If Mogo House ceases operations, we will provide 30 days written notice and delete all server-side user data before closure. Device-only data remains on users' devices until they choose to clear it.
Cookies and local storage
Mogo uses browser local storage to save preferences and app data on your device. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or any cookies that track behaviour across other websites.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and note the version and date at the top. We will not reduce privacy protections for children without providing at least 30 days written notice to registered users.
